Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated - Beta Alpha Iota Zeta was birthed by a desire of Ms. Jamela Browne to have a chapter of the sorority she loved in Crawfordville, FL (Wakulla County). Ms. Browne approached the Area 1 Coordinator, Miranda Griffin, with this desire.
Ms. Griffin took this desire and became instrumental in organizing this chapter. Ms. Griffin reached out to Ms. Novella L. Franklin and asked her to help with this endeavor. Ms. Franklin began reaching out to inactive members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated who lived in the area surrounding Crawfordville, FL. Some of them had not been active in a chapter for 28, 20, 10 and 5 years. After this initial contact with inactive members who agreed to charter the chapter, the completion of the paperwork for the charter began in January 2016.
The birth of the chapter took from January 2016 until April 2016. There were many calls about this until the formation of the chapter was approved by Past International Grand Basileus Mary Breaux Wright. Beta Alpha Iota Zeta was chartered on April 6, 2016 and the induction ceremony was performed on August 6, 2016 at New Bridge Hope Missionary Baptist Church. The servicing city of Beta Alpha Iota Zeta is Crawfordville, FL.
